Cryptanthus bivittatus plant Care and Instruction
This pretty bromeliad is native to Brazil and has a lovely star-like shape made of stemless rosettes of leaves. It is fairly easy to grow as long as you remember a few tips. There is something so romantic looking about a plant with pretty pink foliage. They add so much charm to any indoor setting. The plants can be striped in both ivory tones and various shades of red and pink. The plant will grow to about 6″ tall and 15″ wide. It is a moderately slow grower.
Light – Too much sunlight and heat can make the leaves wither and shrivel up. Some morning and late afternoon sun with protection from midday sun is ideal.
Place – Indoors
Water – Water lightly when the soil is dry to the touch. In very hot climates, the plants do best with regular watering.
Fertilizer – Any Organic fertilizer as needed.
Temperature – Earth stars like temps in the 55-65 º F range at night with daytime temps rising to the 70-90 degrees range. They can take a temperature as low as 34 degrees, but will not withstand freezing.
The plant makes a great indoor plant or terrarium subject. Give it a nice bright window in your home. If grown indoors, the plant will benefit from occasional misting to keep the humidity level correct.
