Senecio crassissimus (Vertical Leaf Senecio) - An erect evergreen subshrub to 18-24 inches tall by 18" wide with thick purple stems holding stiff flattened 2 inch long waxy silver-grey obovate leaves with the edges, with vivid purple margins, facing upward, which is thought to be a strategy for preventing water loss
Plant care and instruction
Established Senecios are extremely drought tolerant. They need some water during the summer but do not leave the soil wet for prolonged periods. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings in winter, when they are somewhat dormant. Since they are growing in sandy soil, nutrients will need to be replenished.
