Common Name - Dumb Cane 'Star Bright'
Scientific Name - Dieffenbachia 'Star Bright'
Description
Dieffenbachia has large decorative leaves in dark and light shades of greens. It can grow to between 2m and 3m tall although houseplants typically reach 1.3m. It prefers filtered bright light. Water thoroughly, allowing it to dry a little between waterings. The common name “Dumb Cane” comes from the fact that the juice from this plant paralyzes the vocal cords! 'Star Bright' bears large, waxy, variegated green leaves that are mottled with blotches of white, cream, or yellow. All parts of this plant are poisonous if eaten and its sap may cause skin irritation.
Dieffenbachia plant Care and Instruction
With a minimum temperature of 5 °C (41 °F), dieffenbachia must be grown indoors in temperate areas. They need light, but filtered sunlight through a window is usually sufficient.
