Description
Lavender Lace Cuphea hyssopifolia is that tropical accent to make the summer complete. With its green glossy foliage and small trumpet, blooming Cuphea softens the edge of a landscape or a container. Its flowers bloom from spring into summer. It is short in stature, measuring 12 inches in height. Also known as Mexican Heather, Lavender Lace Cuphea has a spread of 16 to 18 inches and grows in a mounding habit.
Plant care and instruction
The care is very minimal. Cuphea loves at least 6 hours of sun daily. It has medium water requirements and it needs average, well-draining soil. No trimming is needed. If in a container, add an application of slow-release fertilizer once per season. If planted in the landscape add an annual application of fertilizer or compost to keep it vigorous. Typically this plant is not bothered by pests or insects. Browning leaves are an indication to water deeply and more frequently.
