Large clusters of deep golden yellow flowers are produced over an extended period in spring and summer on this naturally evergreen shrub to die-back perennial. The flowers of the Golden Cassia attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. The foliage may be used as a caterpillar food source for Yellows and Sulphur butterflies. The Golden Cassia is a heat and sun-loving tropical shrub that may act like a die-back perennial where winters remain much below freezing for any real length of time.
PLANTING & CARING
A showy annual wildflower that is easily grown from seed in average, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Tolerates light shade. Favors somewhat poor soils because of reduced competition from other plants. Spreads invasively by self-seeding, particularly in dry open areas. Plant seeds late March to May.
