A broad, spreading tree with finely textured foliage and pink, silky, "powder puff" blooms in the summer. It is often grown as a multi-stemmed tree. It adapts well to drought, high pH, and soil salinity. It is one of the few flowering trees that bloom in the summer and thus extremely useful.
PLANTING & CARING
Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun to light shade. Best flowering occurs in full sun. Prefers rich, light soils. Tolerates a wide range of soils, however, including poor ones. Tolerates alkaline conditions. Tolerates drought, but the best growth occurs with regular watering. Thrives in the high summer heat.
